What it does
If you assemble what you sell, one stock number is a lie - you have finished products and the parts they are made of. Manufacturing & BOM gives OpenCart a second inventory: components, recipes, and builds.
Write the bill of materials once per product. When you run a build, component stock decrements, finished stock increments, and the unit cost rolls up from the parts. Stock stays honest even when the same part feeds twenty different products.
